NAVA — Biography
Nava is an AI-generated Persian virtual singer and digital art project created in 2025 by Iranian-born, London-based artist Farbod Mehr. Mehr developed Nava as a fictional female performer intended in part to represent Iranian women, whose solo public singing is restricted under the Islamic Republic of Iran. Her visual identity was generated using references that included Qajar-era portraits, images of contemporary Iranian women and representations of women in Iranian art. Nava later appeared in a virtual performance with Mehrad Hidden in Dubai and has released AI-assisted Persian music drawing on folk, historical and contemporary material. In 2026, her rendition of the Constitutional-era poem "Az Khoon-e Javanan-e Vatan" circulated widely during anti-government unrest in Iran.
نوا یک خوانندهٔ مجازی فارسیزبان و پروژهٔ هنری مبتنی بر هوش مصنوعی است که در سال ۲۰۲۵ توسط فربد مهر، هنرمند ایرانی ساکن لندن، شکل گرفت. مهر نوا را بهعنوان شخصیتی دیجیتال طراحی کرد که بخشی از مفهوم آن به محدودیت خوانندگی مستقل زنان در فضای عمومی تحت جمهوری اسلامی ایران مربوط است. چهرهٔ نوا با استفاده از منابعی از جمله تصاویر زنان دورهٔ قاجار، چهرههای زنان ایرانی معاصر و بازنمایی زنان در هنر ایران ساخته شده است. او بعدها در دبی در اجرایی مجازی در کنار مهراد هیدن ظاهر شد. در سال ۲۰۲۶ اجرای او از شعر مشروطهخواهانهٔ «از خون جوانان وطن» در جریان اعتراضات ضدحکومتی ایران بازتاب گستردهای پیدا کرد.
