Persian Songs of the 1370s FarsiChart · live ranking

These are the Persian songs of the 1370s, the Iranian decade from March 1991 to March 2001, ranked by the plays they earn today. This is the decade pop music came back inside Iran. For the first time since 1979 there were two catalogues being made at once — one in Tehran, under permit, and one still in Los Angeles — and both are on this chart, competing on the only measure that treats them equally.

The most-played songs of the Iranian 1370s

As of September 10, 2026 the leaders are Soltane Ghalbha, Atreh Toh and Shame Mahtab, out of 100 songs, ordered by real play counts.

The decade pop came home

The 1360s chart is a record of music made in exile because there was no alternative. This one is the decade that changed: licensed pop returned to Iran, a domestic industry restarted, and singers could build an audience without leaving. The catalogue roughly triples against the decade before it, and the number of different artists on the chart grows faster still.

Two catalogues, one ranking

What makes this decade unusual is that it holds two parallel bodies of work. Established diaspora singers were still recording and still reaching listeners inside Iran; at the same time a new domestic generation was being licensed and released at home. FarsiChart does not separate them. Membership follows the release date and the order follows the plays, so the two streams are ranked against each other by the same measure — which is the only fair way we can compare them.

Why English searches for 90s Persian music land here

The Iranian 1370s and the Gregorian 1990s line up more closely than any other pair of decades: 1370 begins in March 1991 and 1379 ends in March 2001. The fit is not perfect, and the last stretch of this chart reaches into 2000 and early 2001, so a strict 1990s list would end slightly earlier. We label the page by the Iranian decade because that is the decade the songs were released into and the one Persian listeners actually name.

How the chart is built

Each song’s own release date decides which decade it belongs to, with the year turning at Nowruz rather than in January. Plays decide the order. A song whose release date we do not hold is absent rather than estimated into place.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most played song of the 1370s?

By play count, Soltane Ghalbha leads as of September 10, 2026, followed by Atreh Toh and Shame Mahtab.

What years is the Iranian 1370s decade?

Jalali 1370 to 1379, which is March 1991 to March 2001. It overlaps the Gregorian 1990s almost exactly, which is why English speakers looking for 90s Persian music generally want this page — though the last year here, 2000 into early 2001, falls outside the 1990s.

Why does this decade matter in Persian music?

Domestic pop was licensed again after more than a decade of silence, and a generation of singers built careers inside Iran rather than abroad. Much of what a listener now thinks of as classic Persian pop was recorded in these ten years.

Are diaspora and Tehran recordings both included?

Yes. Membership is decided by release date alone, so a record made in Los Angeles and one made in Tehran sit on the same chart and are ranked by the same number. Nothing here is separated by where it was made.
