Googoosh — Biography
Googoosh is the stage name of Faegheh Atashin, an Iranian singer and former actress born in Tehran. Her career began in childhood, and she was active in Iranian cinema and Persian pop music before the 1979 Revolution. After the revolution, restrictions on women’s solo public singing in Iran interrupted her performing career for about two decades. She left Iran in 2000 and resumed public concerts outside the country. Her work is associated with pre-revolutionary Iranian pop and film music.
گوگوش، نام هنری فائقه آتشین، خواننده و بازیگر پیشین ایرانی متولد تهران است. فعالیت او از کودکی آغاز شد و پیش از انقلاب ۱۳۵۷ در سینمای ایران و پاپ فارسی حضور داشت. پس از انقلاب، محدودیت اجرای تکخوانی زنان در ایران باعث توقف طولانی فعالیت صحنهای او شد. او در سال ۲۰۰۰ از ایران خارج شد و اجراهای عمومی خود را در خارج از کشور از سر گرفت. آثار او با پاپ و موسیقی فیلم ایران پیش از انقلاب پیوند دارد.
