Persian Songs of the 1380s
FarsiChart · live rankingThese are the Persian songs of the 1380s, the Iranian decade from March 2001 to March 2011, ranked by real play counts. This is the decade the route to a listener stopped running through a permit. Songs began reaching people over the internet, an underground scene became audible for the first time, and Persian rap stopped being a marginal thing and started producing records that are still played daily.

The most-played songs of the Iranian 1380s
As of October 25, 2026 the leaders are “Saghi”, “Arash” and “Azize Delami”, out of 100 songs, ranked by real plays.
The decade the gatekeeping stopped working
Every earlier decade on FarsiChart is shaped by permission — who could record, who could release, and where. The 1380s are the decade that question stopped being decisive. File sharing and then streaming meant a song could find an audience without a licence, a label, or a country, and the effect on the catalogue is visible in the numbers: the count of distinct artists on this chart is several times what the 1370s page holds.
Where Persian rap becomes a chart genre
The clearest consequence is rap. It had existed before, but it had no distribution, so it left almost no trace in a play-ranked catalogue. In this decade it acquires one, and rap records begin appearing among the most-played songs of the year rather than below them. A listener scrolling this chart will find pop and rap interleaved in a way the 1370s chart never shows.
Music that outlived its own moment
Because these records were distributed as files rather than as physical releases tied to a shop and a year, many of them never went out of circulation. That is part of why the decade holds up on a play-count ranking taken today: the songs stayed reachable, and a song that stays reachable keeps accumulating plays long after its release.
How this chart is built
The decade is taken from each song’s own release date, with the Iranian year turning at Nowruz, and the order comes from play counts alone. Songs with no recorded release date are left out rather than assigned to a decade by guesswork.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most played song of the 1380s?
By play count, “Saghi” leads as of October 25, 2026, followed by “Arash” and “Azize Delami”.
What years is the Iranian 1380s decade?
Jalali 1380 to 1389, which is March 2001 to March 2011. English speakers usually call this era the 2000s, and the two line up closely though not exactly.
What separates this decade from the one before it?
Distribution. In the 1370s a song reached a mass audience mainly by being licensed and released through official channels. In the 1380s it could reach one without that, and a whole layer of music that had no route to a listener before suddenly had one.
Is this where Persian rap starts?
It is where it becomes measurable. Persian rap existed earlier, but the 1380s are the first decade in which rap records reach the kind of play counts that put them on a chart like this one alongside pop.
