Thirty-six years, four voices
The span runs 1975 to 2011. Ebi holds the most places, with Siavash Ghomayshi, Hayedeh and Dariush behind him — four singers who between them defined what a sad Persian song sounds like, and who are still the answer most people give.
Sorrow was a classical form
About six in ten of these are filed as traditional. On the new sad chart that share is almost nothing and a quarter is rap. The same feeling, two entirely different crafts.
