The most-played old sad Persian songs
As of October 25, 2026 they are “Saghi”, “Pichak” and “Goriz”, across 100 songs on this chart.
Thirty-six years, four voices
The span runs 1975 to 2011. Ebi holds the most places, with Siavash Ghomayshi, Hayedeh and Dariush behind him — four singers who between them defined what a sad Persian song sounds like, and who are still the answer most people give.
Sorrow was a classical form
About six in ten of these are filed as traditional. On the new sad chart that share is almost nothing and a quarter is rap. The same feeling, two entirely different crafts.
How this list is built
Every song carries a confirmed mood tag; the era comes from its own release date, converted to the Persian calendar. Plays decide position only.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as old here?
Anything released up to the end of the 1380s, so 2011 and earlier. The oldest song on the page is from 1975.
Who leads it?
Ebi holds the most places, with Siavash Ghomayshi behind him, then Hayedeh and Dariush.
Is it all classical?
About six in ten. The rest is pop, mostly from the golden age, and a couple of early rap records.
How is this different from the sad chart?
The all-time sad chart mixes every era, so recent records crowd in on volume. Here nothing after 2011 can enter, which is what makes the list hold together.
