What FarsiChart is

FarsiChart — also written Farsi Chart — is a free, independent chart that ranks the most popular Persian and Iranian music artists and singers. Spotify monthly listeners set the order, and a RadioJavan view ranks the same artists by their monthly RadioJavan plays. The ranking is recalculated every 24 hours. Who is behind FarsiChart

FarsiChart is an independent project, published daily since 2024 and maintained by a small team dedicated to Persian and Iranian music data. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Spotify or RadioJavan — it simply organizes their public data into one clear, transparent ranking for the Persian music community worldwide.

How we measure

FarsiChart's artist charts rank by Spotify monthly listeners: the number of unique listeners who played an artist on Spotify in the last 28 days. The RadioJavan view ranks the same artists by their monthly RadioJavan plays instead, which matters for artists who are bigger inside Iran than on global platforms. An artist with no Spotify figure is never given one: they are listed after every artist who has one, or left off the shorter charts. The other columns can be sorted, but they do not change the rank.

Song charts rank each song by its total plays since release, on one platform at a time, and the Trending chart measures momentum: how fast a song gained plays over the last day, three days and seven days. Songs and charts on this page explains both in full. The Top Songs lists leave out international releases that Iranian listeners do not play on RadioJavan: a song by Arash, Sevdaliza or Montiego with no RadioJavan plays on any version is left off automatically, and the FarsiChart team keeps or removes other songs by hand. Those songs keep their own pages, and a song page's overall rank counts every song FarsiChart tracks.

At FarsiChart, Spotify is read three times a day: the 60 most-listened artists on every run, and everyone else in turn. RadioJavan is read overnight, and each artist's RadioJavan figures are refreshed about every two nights. Every chart is rebuilt at least once a day from the newest figures we hold, so a number on the page can trail the platform by a day or more.

Nobody can pay for a place on a chart, and no label moves anyone up or down; apart from the Top Songs rule above, the numbers alone decide every rank. FarsiChart never guesses a missing figure. A listener count that cannot be true for an artist is refused, and once an artist passes 5,000 listeners, a sudden jump far beyond their last verified figure is held back until the next reading confirms it; until then the last verified figure stays.

What we track

FarsiChart currently follows roughly 404 Persian and Iranian artists across rap & hip-hop, pop and classic/traditional music, on both Spotify and RadioJavan. You can explore the data by genre — Persian rap, Persian pop, Persian classic — by platform, or browse every artist profile with their full streaming history.

Songs and charts

Song charts rank each song by its lifetime play count on one platform at a time. Spotify is the default view; the RadioJavan view ranks the same songs by their RadioJavan plays, and a song that is not on a platform is left off that view. Because the count runs from release day, an old favourite can sit above this month's biggest release. The mood, occasion, genre and decade charts keep the same rule: a song's tag, genre or release date decides whether it is listed, and its plays decide where. Spotify figures are collected three times a day; RadioJavan is read once a night and reaches every tracked artist about every two nights. Each Spotify run re-counts the popular songs of the 30 most-listened artists and works through the rest of the catalogue in turn. Every chart re-ranks from the newest counts we hold. Popular songs are re-counted on every run; songs further down the catalogue can be several weeks behind the platform itself, and every song page shows the date of its figure.

Trending measures momentum, not totals. It scores how fast each song is gaining plays over the last day, three days and seven days, on Spotify and RadioJavan together, with Spotify weighted heavier. A rise seen on both platforms counts for more, a spike on one platform alone is damped, impossible jumps are capped, and a new release gets a small head start that fades. The Trending chart is recalculated whenever new counts arrive, several times a day.

Spotify no longer shares its mood data with new apps, so a song's mood and occasion are judged separately. Each tag comes from one of three places: a person on our team, an automatic process that reads the song's Persian title, or a Persian word list that only decides a mood when the title names the feeling outright. Most tags are set automatically. A person's tag is never overwritten by an automatic one, a remix is never tagged automatically, and a song with no tag is left off the mood and occasion charts rather than guessed onto them.

Accuracy and corrections

Rankings reflect only the numbers — nothing is hand-picked, and no artist has ever been moved for commercial reasons. If you believe a data point is wrong, send us the page address and a short note through the contact page; we check it against the source platform and correct genuine errors.

Artist biographies

The biographies on artist pages are maintained and edited by the FarsiChart team. They draw on the artist's own releases, their official profiles on Spotify, RadioJavan and social media, and information artists and their teams send us. When we cannot confirm a fact, such as a birth date or a real name, we leave it out. Chart numbers are never written by hand: they are read automatically from the platforms' public figures, Spotify three times a day and RadioJavan about every two nights. Artists can ask for a correction through the contact page.

Free and community-driven

Viewing the chart, every genre ranking and all artist profiles is completely free, with no account required. New artists are added through community submissions, so the chart grows with the scene.
