The Best & Most Famous Iranian Rappers
Updated daily · October 11, 2026
"Best" is always subjective, so this guide brings two views together: the most influential names in the history of Persian rap, and a live "biggest right now" list built from Spotify streaming numbers. The result is a clear picture of the most famous Iranian rappers — both the ones who built the genre and the ones topping the charts today.
The pioneers and most influential rappers
The foundation of Persian rap was laid by the first generation in Tehran. Hichkas, lead figure of the group 021 (named after Tehran's area code), is the most widely called the father of Persian rap; his 2006 album Jangale Asfalt ("Asphalt Jungle") is recognized as the first original Iranian hip-hop album. Yas became the first Iranian rapper authorized to perform inside Iran and brought socially conscious Persian rap to a wide audience. Zedbazi — formed in 2002 by Saman Wilson and Mehrad Hidden — pioneered Iranian gangsta rap, and Reza Pishro is counted among the era's most influential voices.
The rappers who took it mainstream
The next wave made Persian rap one of Iran's biggest genres. Amir Tataloo became one of the most-followed figures in the scene after breaking through with Zire Hamkaf (2011); Erfan and the Paydar crew — where Behzad Leito started — pushed a polished, melodic, club-ready sound. Bahram, with his socially conscious style, and Sepehr Khalse are key names of this era who pushed Persian rap's popularity to its peak.
The biggest by streams today
The newest generation — blending trap, drill, and melodic styles — took Persian rap global and racked up hundreds of millions of streams. Who counts as the "biggest" is settled by the numbers: the live list below shows exactly who is the most-streamed Iranian rapper right now. For the full story of these waves see Persian rap generations, and for the complete live ranking see the Top Iranian & Persian Rappers hub.
