Persian Songs of the 1360s FarsiChart · live ranking

These are the Persian songs of the 1360s, the Iranian decade running from March 1981 to March 1991, ranked by the plays they still earn today. It is the thinnest decade in Persian recorded music and the reason is not taste: domestic release was almost entirely shut, the country was at war for eight of those ten years, and most of what survives was made by exiles. What is left is a small body of work carried by a handful of voices, and it has outlasted decades that produced twenty times as much.

The most-played songs of the Iranian 1360s

As of September 10, 2026 the leaders are Gheseh Eshgh, Pichak and Goriz. There are 100 songs on this chart and the ranking moves with the plays, not with anyone’s opinion of what the decade should sound like.

A decade defined by what could not be released

Every other decade on FarsiChart is shaped by what artists chose to make. This one is shaped by what they were unable to release. Commercial pop effectively stopped inside Iran after 1979, and the eight-year war filled most of the decade that followed. The recordings that survive were made in exile, largely in Los Angeles, by singers who had already built an audience before they left.

Why the same names keep appearing

Scroll this chart and you will see a much smaller cast than on the 1380s or 1390s pages. That is the decade being honest about itself: a handful of singers carry nearly the whole surviving catalogue, and there was no domestic industry producing newcomers behind them. On later charts a hundred rows can hold a hundred different artists. Here they cannot.

Reading the years correctly

The Iranian 1360s are not the 1960s. They begin in March 1981 and end in March 1991, and because the year turns at Nowruz rather than on 1 January, the first three months of each Gregorian year belong to the previous Iranian one. That conversion is applied per song from its actual release date, so nothing lands in this decade by approximation.

What decides the order

Plays, and only plays. FarsiChart does not rank these by cultural importance, chart position at the time, or how often a song is covered — none of which we can measure honestly. What we can measure is how often people press play now, thirty-odd years later, and that is what this page reports.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most played song of the 1360s?

By play count, Gheseh Eshgh leads as of September 10, 2026, followed by Pichak and Goriz. The order comes from real plays and nothing else.

What years is the Iranian 1360s decade?

The Jalali years 1360 to 1369, which run from March 1981 to March 1991 in the Gregorian calendar. Because the Iranian year turns at Nowruz in late March, a song released in January 1991 belongs to 1369 and so counts as a 1360s record here.

Why does this decade have so few songs?

Popular music was barely released inside Iran during these years. Almost the whole surviving catalogue was recorded abroad, mostly in Los Angeles, and a small number of singers account for most of it — which is why the same names repeat down this chart in a way they do not on any later one.

How is this list built?

Membership comes from each song’s own release date and the order comes from play counts. A song with no recorded release date is left out entirely rather than guessed into a decade.
