Homayoun Khorram — Biography

Homayoun Khorram (1930–2013) was an Iranian composer and violinist whose career was closely associated with the Golha radio programmes. From Bushehr, he studied violin and Persian radif with Abolhassan Saba before entering radio as a teenager. He subsequently worked as a soloist, orchestra leader and composer, writing for singers including Hossein Ghavami, Marzieh, Elaheh and Hayedeh. Later concert work explored instrumental versions of his music and smaller ensembles, including violin-and-piano combinations. His collaboration with Alireza Ghorbani on Rosvaye Zamaneh connected his compositions with a younger generation of singers. Alongside recording and performance, Khorram maintained a substantial commitment to teaching and writing educational material.
