Kayhan Kalhor — Biography
Kayhan Kalhor is an Iranian Kurdish kamancheh player, setar player and composer born in Tehran in 1964. He is associated with Persian classical music, Kurdish music and cross-cultural ensemble work. He has performed with Ghazal, the Silk Road Ensemble, Yo-Yo Ma, Kronos Quartet and other musicians, and has recorded works such as Silent City, The Wind, Night Silence Desert and It’s Still Autumn. His work is centered on kamancheh performance and composition rooted in Iranian and Kurdish traditions.
کیهان کلهر نوازنده کمانچه و سهتار و آهنگساز کرد ایرانی متولد تهران در سال ۱۳۴۳ است. آثار او در حوزه موسیقی کلاسیک ایرانی، موسیقی کردی و همکاریهای میانفرهنگی قرار میگیرد. او با گروههایی و هنرمندانی مانند غزل، Silk Road Ensemble، یو-یو ما و Kronos Quartet همکاری کرده و آثاری مانند Silent City، The Wind، Night Silence Desert و It’s Still Autumn در کارنامهاش ثبت شده است. محور اصلی کار او نوازندگی کمانچه و آهنگسازی بر پایه سنتهای ایرانی و کردی است.
